FIRST MINAHANG BAYAN IN KALINGA DECLARED

Tabuk City, Kalinga- The Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) of Kalinga declared the Minahang Bayan of Guinaang Tribe Indigenous People Cultural Community (GTIPCC), during its 1st Quarter Meeting held at Las Vegas Hotel, Dagupan West on January 20, 2022.
PMRB Resolution No 1 Series of 2002 declared the said minahang bayan covering an area of 700 hectares located within the Barangays of Galdang and Bagtayan, in the Municipality of Pasil, Kalinga.
GTIPCC began its minahang bayan application in 2005 through the initiative and support of then Mayor Artemio Dalsen of Pasil. After 16 years of completing the requirements and following through the process, the application was finally granted approval for declaration by the DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu on December 8, 2021.
The Minahang Bayan of the GTIPCC in Pasil is the 11th declared Minahang Bayan in the Cordillera with four each in Benguet and Apayao, one each in Mountain Province and Abra.
The PMRB Meeting was attended by Regional Director Fay Apil of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau- CAR, DENR; Governor Ferdinand Tubban, Small-Scale Mining Representative Artemio Dalsen, personnel from the Provincial Government- Environment and Natural Resources Office (PG-ENRO), DENR CENRO’s and PENRO’s, Environmental Management Bureau CAR, Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Local Government Unit of Pasil and GURU Press.
