In a meeting held at the Apayao Stage College Conference Hall, members of the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board (PMRB) Apayao signed Resolution no.006, S.2021 declaring the applied area of Mr. Manuel T. Canipas as Minahang Bayan (MB). The MB area is located in Sitio Masid – sidog, Barangay Manag, Conner, Apayao and covers 2.1 hectares.
Mr. Canipas, who filed his application on March 4, 2014, had been actively securing and complying with the requirements for the Declaration of his MB and after numerous evaluation was finally given clearance by the DENR Secretary on December 18, 2020.
Dir Fay Apil of MGB – CAR reiterated that despite the decalaration of his area as MB, Mr Canipas still needs to acquire a Small – Scale Mining (SSM) Contract before mining operations will be allowed to commence.
This marks the 2nd Minahang Bayan declared within the province of Apayao. The first MB was declared on February 4, 2020 at Governor’s Conference Hall, Capitol, Luna, Apayao, and is still in the process of acquiring its SSM Contract.
